Pregnancy +
The team at LEAD3D were tasked on directing the 3d content implementation, from initial target art, all the way through to device ready assets with fully-interactive animations.
We initially set out prototyping the technical possibilities and end-user experience we can achieve on mobile device, and after arriving at a visual target which captured the beauty and aesthetic we were all looking for, it was full steam-ahead!
Creating scenes for each week of the pregnancy, we set out to illustrate the beauty and wonder of the development, from the smallest of features, such as fingers and toes, through to smiles and full body movements which parents can anticipate along the way.
Throughout the whole experience, we wanted to convey a feeling and mood which was both striking, and beautiful, to help bridge the emotional connection for end users along their magical life-changing journey.
Look development
“Colour is my day-long obsession joy and torment.” -Claude Monet
Setting the right mood and story was fundamental for us, as we truly believe great story is what rests behind captivating imagery. We set out to create a mood and feel which is not only reflective of the reality of the babies’ development, but also captures the true beauty and wonder of life.
Internals modelled
“A sculptor is a person who is interested in the shape of things, a poet in words, a musician by sounds.” -Henry Moore
Although important to show what is happening on a surface level, we also wanted to go a step below the surface, and illustrate how the internal skeletal structure and organs are also taking shape over the 40 weeks. We made sure to include extra details such as the changing heart-beat over these earlier weeks, just for that extra little touch!
Animations
“You’re not supposed to animate drawings. You’re supposed to animate feelings.” -Ollie Johnston
Each of the models were brought to life with animations which reference the real-world behaviour and movements of the developing baby at each week. These animations are fully interactive with the touch/swipe of a finger.
